Short contemplations and quick insights on life and religion

Shortest paths to hearts and minds: To a man’s heart: appreciation. To a woman’s heart: attention. To a child’s heart: playing with them. To the mind: questioning. To happiness: contentment. To peace: justice. To isolation: social media. To Paradise: righteous deeds. To Hell: injustice. To Atheism: Al-Bukhari’s book.
Exaggerating the claim of perfection is a deficiency, while admitting deficiency is a virtue.
"For a wisdom known only to God" A phrase turned by many into a pretext to disable minds and halt thinking.
The God who judges you based on the religion "you inherited" is an unjust and biased God. The God who judges you based on your deeds and behavior is a Just God.
After depriving his sisters of their father's inheritance, swallowing the share of his orphaned nephews under the pretext of guardianship, cutting from his worker's meager wage, and cheating his customer by selling a counterfeit item after swearing by God it was original... He noticed his neighbor listening to music in his car. He approached him with a scowl and said: "May God reward you, neighbor. Don't you know that music is haram? Fear God, for you are in great sin!" Then he added: "And why don't I see you in the mosque? Prayer is the pillar of religion and the first thing a servant is held accountable for on the Day of Resurrection." He then proceeded to the mosque, and during ablution, he carefully checked his mouth to ensure not a single drop of water entered his stomach—for he was fasting voluntarily, seeking the pleasure of God.
The strongest type of drug is not those we hear about, but a heritage book you read once and live drugged by it for the rest of your life, lost in the euphoria of illusion, unconscious while thinking you possess insight. There's no need to buy drugs; save your money and read just one of these books. One dose is enough to make you hallucinate for years, seeing truth in the form of a beard and a turban, thinking everyone who disagrees with you is an infidel or a heretic, feeling like a scholar when in reality you are just a victim repeating your sheikh’s words, mistaking them for revelation.
You propose an idea, and they tell you: "Are you more knowledgeable than the righteous ancestors (Salaf)?" As if truth was born in the second century of the Hijra, then died forever after!
They raised us to worship God out of fear of torment, not out of love for justice. We pray so we don’t burn, not to elevate ourselves. We supplicate so we don’t lose, not because we trust. Thus, our relationship with God became a conditional transaction, not absolute love.
One of the most difficult psychological illusions: for a person to imagine that their opinion of someone, a society, or their evaluation of people has any weight or value with God.
You don't need to disbelieve in the Quran or even criticize heritage books to stir the anger of the "angels of the earth." It's enough to simply pray for mercy for a non-Muslim, and you'll find them calling you an infidel immediately, excluding you from the fold without hesitation. They even see silence regarding you as necessitating divine wrath. Of course, the god of heritage, not the God of the Quran. For them, religion is not a way of life, ethics, or justice, but ready-made defensive slogans: Who prayed for mercy for a non-Muslim? Kafir! Who remained silent? Hypocrite! Who discussed the ruling? Heretic!
The book that has most offended Islam is Al-Bukhari's book. Yet, one of the most sacred books for Muslims is Al-Bukhari's book!
The first things a ruler is asked about on the Day of Resurrection: 1- Justice. 2- Education. 3- Health. If these were sound, the rest of their work is sound; if corrupt, the rest is corrupt. And the first things a servant is asked about: Association (Shirk) and Injustice. If sound, the rest is sound; if corrupt, the rest is corrupt.
There are those who think intelligently and those who think stupidly; do not be surprised by their ideas. Do not forget that the spinal cord connects the brain to the rear end.
I heard about a non-veiled woman who stood in solidarity with a veiled woman forced to remove her hijab at work. But I never heard of a veiled woman standing with a non-veiled woman who removed her hijab out of lack of conviction; instead, she often calls her the foulest names after threatening her with Hellfire!! Why in our society are purity, chastity, ethics, and honor linked to a piece of cloth on a female's head? Why is a man's honor linked to his sister's conduct, or more accurately, between a female's thighs? What is the reason? In that case, someone with no sister would have no honor!
Some say that Ramadan is not just fasting from food and drink, but also from hurting people, backbiting, and gossip. No, my friend, you are wrong; this type of fasting is required every single day of the year, not just in Ramadan.
A person recovers when you leave them alone and stop sticking your nose into their life and acting as their judge. Just leave them be, and they will be perfectly fine.
He remained an atheist until his father died, then he said to his sister: "O sister, for the male is a share equal to that of two females."
In the religion of the clergymen, if you eat camel meat, you must redo your ablution because it spoils it; but if you drink its urine, you will be cured of your diseases!
A wife complained about her husband's lack of memorizing the Quran. She swore that if he memorized it in one year, she would find him a second wife. The man immersed himself in it until he finished in just six months. The wife then fasted for three days.
A man slaughtered a fat calf, lit the grill, and told his brother: "Go out and call our loved ones and neighbors to eat with us." The brother went out shouting: "People, help us! There is a fire in my brother's house!" A few moments later, a group of people rushed out while the rest acted as if they hadn't heard. The people who came ate and drank until they were full. The brother looked at them and asked: "I don't know these people, and I haven't seen them before. Where are our friends?" The brother replied: "Those who left their homes came to help us extinguish a fire, not for a feast. These are the ones who deserve our generosity." Summary: The one you don't find beside you in times of hardship doesn't deserve to be called a friend or brother; they only deserve your indifference.
If the Prophet returned and wanted to lead us in prayer, according to which school would he pray? Sending blessings on the Prophet in the first Tashahhud is Sunnah for Shafi'i, not for Hanafi, and disliked for Maliki! The second Salaam is an obligation for Hanbali, invalidates prayer if left for Shafi'i, does not invalidate for Hanafi, and is Sunnah for Maliki! The Basmalah at the start of Fatiha—your prayer is void if you leave it for Shafi'i, but valid for Maliki and Hanafi!
The follower of conjecture believes in an absolute truth that all other religions and sects are polytheistic and false, and only his belief is correct. He has proofs (from his references) for all who disagree with him that they are astray, and if someone proves the polytheism of his own belief, he insults them. In his eyes, everyone is wrong except him. You are his beloved until he discovers you disagree with his creed; then you become an infidel, a heretic, and a misguided soul.
Do not debate or discuss with someone who sees you as astray and false. Do not discuss with someone whose only goal is to prove you wrong and himself right. Do not discuss with those who do not believe in difference or who practice exclusion. Discuss with those who believe in the validity of diversity in all fields.
The methodology of the religious clergy in dealing with people is like the methodology of Pharaoh when he said: "I do not show you except what I see." What the clergyman believes and sees is the absolute truth that should not be questioned, and that everyone must believe in!
In the Quranic dialogue between God and the angels about the creation of Adam: The angels said: "Will You place therein one who spreads corruption and sheds blood?" They did not say: "Will You place one who associates others with You, or disbelieves, or becomes an atheist?" Because disbelief and atheism only harm the individual. Corruption and bloodshed harm the entire society. The angels' focus was strictly on the public interest.
There is a big difference between expressing an opinion and imposing an opinion. The first is a basic right. The second is a transgression against others.
If you believe everything you inherited is an absolute truth beyond criticism, keep your ideas and do not tire yourself with research or discussion, for you will reach no new result. The first step on the path of knowledge is the abolition of sanctification.
When facing problems, look for solutions first, not for reasons.
Some (men) in certain societies abstain from kissing or hugging their wives in front of their children, seeing it as a lack of manners or immorality. Yet, they do not hesitate to insult or strike her in front of them, seeing it as manliness and authority.
According to the Quranic judgment, faith lies in following the verses of God. According to the clerical judgment, faith requires following books written by men, otherwise you are an infidel headed for Hell.
"And We made you peoples and tribes 👈that you may know one another👉" To know one another, not to fight, declare each other infidels, hate, or exclude one another. Life is a right for all, not a monopoly for me or you. The world accommodates everyone whose heart is pure. As for those with a diseased heart, only a bed in a mental hospital fits them.
Head covering in Japanese society is a sign of work; in Russian society, a sign of cold; in Africa, a sign of heat. But in certain traditional societies, it is the sole sign of honor, chastity, and purity.
An undertaker told me: "We spent an hour trying to pull his nose out because he had stuck it so deep into people's private business, but we couldn't and had to cut it off. We buried him without a nose." He died, but his nose remained stuck in people's privacy.
If the truth fears criticism, then it is falsehood, for truth does not fear being questioned. In the logic of the clergy, encouraging logic and questioning is called "heresy," while encouraging hatred and exclusion is called "piety."
We don't watch TV, listen to music, live in the West, read philosophers, or use modern technology... all "so our creed doesn't shake." The problem then is in our creed, not in these things.
They said: "Your mind will lead you to atheism." As if their minds led them to Mars! Their minds only led them to "camel urine therapy."
The concept of "Tawatur" (mass transmission) is just the verse "Nay, but we follow what we found our fathers doing," but with makeup on.
"Who is your sheikh?" The literal translation of this question is: "Sheep need a shepherd because they cannot find the way alone."
Mules always boast that their ancestors were horses. (German proverb)
The fairest thing on earth is that everyone will die.
A society cannot be virtuous if it does not possess the freedom to commit vice.
Entering Paradise does not depend on your criteria or the criteria of your sect or your sect's understanding of God's religion.
Minds shrink when they are busy with the minds of others, and they grow when they focus on themselves.
The three impossibilities: 1- A clergyman who prioritizes reason over transmission. 2- A traditional woman convinced she is not "defective" or an "Awra." 3- A traditionalist who respects those different from him without questioning their intentions.
When do you realize you need a psychiatrist? When you get angry, argue, and fight over events that happened 1,400 years ago, transmitted to you through contemporary people.
If you wish, be a devil in your thought and a human in your behavior, but beware of being a human in your thought and a devil in your behavior. Your intellectual rebellion might be forgiven if your conduct is pure, but your devilish conduct will not be forgiven, even if you boast of prayer and fasting.
When an atheist wants to attack Islam, he defends heritage books more than the traditionalists themselves. He turns into a guardian of a heritage he never believed in. Not out of love, but because it provides him with ammunition and fertile ground for mockery.
An eye accustomed to darkness is pained by light.
The environment you grow up in shapes your consciousness and plants your beliefs. If you do not rebel against it in your quest for truth, you will remain a prisoner of its borders, thinking you see while you are veiled.
The fundamental difference between one who clings to the Quran and one who clings to heritage lies in the rule used as a scale for judgment. For example: when discussing "Zakat threshold," the Quranic seeker finds no mention of it in the Book of God and thus rejects it as a human addition. The heritage seeker, if he doesn't find it in the Quran, does not doubt his scale (heritage) but instead accuses the Quran of being incomplete. The problem is not just in the texts, but in the "system of the scale" we use to weigh them.
The problem is not those who do not read; the problem is those who read and do not change.
"I want to ask you a question, but don't get upset." The literal translation of this sentence is: "I want to upset you, but don't get upset." Save yourself the headache and tell them: "Don't ask, because I will get upset."
In all forums, they hold Quran memorization competitions, but you never hear of Quran reflection (Tadabbur) competitions. Do you know why? Because the clergy (deputies of God on earth) believe reflection is exclusive to them. You are allowed to "memorize," but beware of "understanding." If 100 Muslims memorize the Quran, the only result is that the number of Quranic copies increased by 100.
In inherited jurisprudence, it is permissible to marry a child, yet she is not allowed to vote because she is a "minor." But when it comes to sex and animalistic desire, she suddenly becomes a "mature and conscious human."
Deceiving people is easier than convincing them that they have been deceived.
Your religion, creed, name, and language are hostages to the environment you were born in. Your family decides your faith through indoctrination. Do not be fanatical about something you inherited by mere coincidence. If you were born in Iran, you'd be a fanatical Shia; in Nepal, a Buddhist; in India, a Hindu; in the Vatican, a Christian. Do not be fanatical about something you did not choose.
There is a nation that eats what it does not sow, wears what it does not weave, and treats itself with what it does not manufacture—yet believes the entire world is conspiring against it!
In clerical logic, if you lie and cheat people, you are a sinner. But if you do none of that yet you smoke, shave your beard, or listen to music, you are a "Sinner Pro Max."
Some of our brothers think they are the center of the universe and that God refers only to them in the verse "Indeed, the religion with Allah is Islam." They do not know that every peaceful human who lives in peace and does not harm anyone is a "Muslim" (submitter) to God, regardless of their creed.
We memorize the verse: "That was a nation which has passed on. It will have what it earned, and you will have what you have earned. And you will not be asked about what they used to do." Yet, we still fight: who was right and who was wrong 1,400 years ago? As if God will hold us accountable for events we never lived!
How to identify ideologically closed minds? They care about the speaker, not the speech. They personalize the topic instead of discussing the argument. The benefit of identifying them? Buying your peace of mind by ending the discussion early. Tell them they are right and move on.
In the logic of some, loving the Prophet consists not in denying the narrations that insult him, but in merely reciting "blessings upon him" whenever his name is mentioned.
If you want to promote any lie, wrap it in a religious cover.
* "Lions and leopards are very kind. The most dangerous animals are chickens and birds." (The worm's advice to its children) * "Chickens and birds are very kind. The most dangerous animals are lions and leopards." (The gazelle's advice to its children)
Technology does not mean modern devices, but rather working with what is available to achieve the goal we desire.
