In the Hadith: It is mentioned that the Messenger of Allah commanded the killing of the gecko (house lizard) and said: "(It used to blow on [the fire of] Abraham, peace be upon him)." Narrated by Bukhari No. (3359). In Muslim's narration No. (2238), the Messenger of Allah commanded killing the gecko and called it a "Fuwayisq" (little wrongdoer).
However, in the story of Abraham’s burning, it is said that due to the intense heat of the fire, it would burn any bird passing over it. The story also claims that because of the strength of the flames, people could not advance to throw Abraham into it, so they cast him using a catapult from a distance.
If the fire was indeed like that, how could a small creature, no larger than a human finger, approach such a fire and blow into it? This is especially true since the gecko has thin, delicate skin that cannot even withstand strong direct sunlight without dying.
Furthermore, how much air could possibly be exhaled from its tiny lungs to blow upon such a massive fire?
Even if it had truly done this, what is the fault of its descendants and offspring for an act committed by a single creature? Is it fair for an entire species to be held accountable and sentenced to death because of the alleged mistake of one ancestor?
